Great effort and ingenuity over many decades has gone into making existing thermometers less prone to drift. However, fundamentally ANY thermometer that relies on measuring a property that is affected by temperature WILL drift. The only thing we can do is minimise the drift by careful design of the thermometer or the whole system. There is a real demand for thermometers that do not drift in applications where measurement errors create serious safety hazards or lead to loss of expensive product.
